    C3 1969 Radio Plug

    On my 69 the original 3 wire radio plug has been cut from my wire loom when they installed an aftermarket radio/cassette player. Luckily I found the 3 wires and they are long eough to be spliced. Question is how LONG should these wires be coming out of the loom before they go to the 3 plug plastic connector that plugs into the radio? 4 inches, 6 inches? Anyone have an idea?

    Thanks.

    Well Jim you're in luck because I still have my dash apart.

    I just measured it for you and I get about 8-1/2" from where the three wires(black, yellow, grey) come out of the harness to where they go into the plug.

            No problem Jim, just glad to be able to help. 82 and sunny eh?... well it's sunny here too but only about 45 so you never know.

            What is it that you're working on here, the burgundy one or the black Canadian one?

                Greg, I know I'm replying to an "old" message so I'm not sure if you (or anyone) can help me with this!? I'm replacing my 69 Delco radio with an after market and there's some confusion, on my part, about which wire is what? The black, the yellow and the gray. My new radio states that their red wire goes to the ignition, their black to the ground and their orange to the battery. So on the existing wires, (black, yellow and gray) can you which is which?

                  It's right in the wiring diagram in your copy of the AIM...

                  Grey= Panel lamp
                  Black= Ground
                  Yellow= Fused Power
