    C1 Headlight Bucket Question

One of the adjustment screws on the driver side was frozen so I thought this was the perfect time to clean and rebuild the units. I ordered the rebuild kit from Corv Cent but when I pulled the left side I found completely different mounting units in the bucket - I mean that the adjusting screw mounts are metal and riveted to the side of the bucket. The bucket is pitted so I can find no #s and the outside dimensions are fine so I guess it is fine for my driver but can somebody tell me what this bucket comes from? I may look at swap meets or ebay to find a match for the "regular" one but I would still like to know where Bubba found the one I have.
This is just another chapter in the ongoing saga of"Bubba and Son and the Mix n Match 58".

    Re: C1 Headlight Bucket Question

The headlight adjusters underwent minor changes in geometry and construction over the years to 'improve' them (durability, Etc.). Later designs were considered downward compatible and few cared if these parts that couldn't be seen once the headlight assy was 'buttoned up' were the same as factory originals or not.

Those who are serious about their restoration, often walk the scrap yards looking for passenger cars for the same era to 'mine' for this/that part... But, a word of caution. The original adjusters are often well weathered and brittle making their removal from the donor headlight bucket without breakage a coin toss issue!
