    Big ball antenna mast

From what year to the last year were the big ball antenna masts used on C-3s?

    Thanks,

Started in 1969. Someone else will have to supply the last, but I know it went through 1972.

If we're talking about the MAST TIP STYLE, it was used from 1969 through 1977.

That is what I took it Scott was asking about, and why I responded as I did.

          Joe and Terry:
If I'm not mistaken, '67 and '68 used the same size (.300") ball as '69 up. I know the mounting was a different configuration but I believe the mast and ball were the same. Please correct me if I'm wrong-this won't be the first time or the last!

Sorry- I just noticed the question was on C-3's. My including the '67 was in error.

The mast ball was the same size for 67-68 as for 69-77. However, the masts were not the same.

Thanks, all. Joe, when you say the masts were big ball through 1977 but the masts were not the same are you referring to the base of the mast where the mast enters the "cone" shaped part? I noticed that with respect to the big ball antenna masts some "cones" have broader edges (see attached photo).

Yes, that's what they're talking about...different mast PN for '67 & '68 due to the way the lower end of the mast installed, but your pictures don't contain the difference. The '67 & '68 masts were threaded on the lower end vs. the smooth cylindrical, slip-in, design both masts in your photo depict...

Guess it'll remain a mystery what year the big ball antenna masts changed from the narrow ledge cone to the wider ledge on the cone. I know the 1969-1972 has the narrow ledge cone.
