ATF capacity of 57 cast iron powerglide

shop manual and motor manual are of no help on overall capacity of the old cast PG's. gettin ready to fireup the old 57 FI but don't want to put too much in on initial fireup. anybody got a good guess? mike

Owner's manual sez 11 quarts total capacity (dry trans and converter), 4-1/2 quarts for sump-only refill.

Put in three quart first NOT all 11 then start the engine and add rest or you'll see it run on the floor
