You are correct Ken, the manifolds are in fact 2-1/2" but the exhaust pipes are necked down to 2" for some reason. You can see that in these pics of my 69.

SUPER RESTO. Is your Corvette done now. My 70 LT-1'S have 2.0 manifolds that neck out to 2.5 & back in to 2.00 at the muffler. Go figure.

Thanks Ken. The body is back on and it's had it's first coat of lacquer but I'll have to leave the final painting now until next spring when it warms up.

I don't know why GM necked up and necked down their pipes.... Now that I think of it I was told that they were necked down in 69 to help with the emissions by chocking the engines......

My 69 L36 had 2-1/2 " on it too but it wasn't original so it now has 2" to make it correct.
I didn't know that 68 had 2 1/2" pipes, thanks for the info,
why did GM install 2" in 1969 only ???
