Re: 1970 Vacuum diagram
Consider one of the vac system trouble shooting guides (e.g. Dr. Rebuild's PN 2777555) + your copy of the AIM book for your car. The troubleshooting guide will give a 'generic' vac diagram covering multiple years of Shark cars and give you the 'gist' of how the system works + how to troubleshoot.
The AIM book will show you vac components specific to your year car + how the hoses were routed. That's generally good enough for the novice to become expert in the art!- Top

Re: 1970 Vacuum diagram
Hi Jeff,
I believe some diagrams (even the AIM) has an error in the drawing at the headlight switch on the dash. The small BLUE striped hose goes on the FRONT port of the switch. The small black (unmarked) hose goes on the rear port.
The AIM shows a little piece of tape on the hoses right at the ports which is on original hoses but goofs up the drawing as the hoses come out of the tape wrap.
You do realize the dealers got together in 1972 and had the engineer who had designed the headlight and wiper systems ASSASINATED.

Re: 1970 Vacuum diagram
Yes, the reverse connection error was in many diagrams in the web. I think Dr Rebuild has the correct layout with hoses connected as you said.
Control Vac (thin) Hose should vent to air in the Headlight side of the circuit when at ON position. With no control vacumn, headlights will open (provided the big hoses are OK in the actuators, etc). This is true for the headlight switch and pull down switch under the column which are in series connection.
