I replaced my quadra jet with the holley replacement last year. The weather has not been great here till today. Went out to start it up and it was just dumping gas from the secondaries. My thought is the float is stuck open. The last time i had it out (about 3 weeks ago) it was running fine. Thoughts would be welcomed. Thanks

More than likely you're correct about the float causing the problem. If you try softly taping on the needle / seat with a hard plastic hammer you might be able to dislodge what ever is holding the needle from the seat. Otherwise remove the bowl, clean, inspect and replace parts as required.

Re: carb question
Ken;
So I guess what you have is a sinker instead of a float, right?
I had a 4165 replacement for a while that I toyed with in place of a QJ on several cars. To me, from my experience, the Holley gave you a more impressive dump (tip in), but did little to enhance the performance of the car. Also, the increased amount of "fussing" just was not worth it. Each time you pulled a bowl off you had to be real careful with the fuel transfer tube "O" ring seals as they would easily walk out and dump gas all over your intake - not good. It tended to use more gas, what with the two accelerator pumps, etc.
Have fun playing with it, but I bet you'll get tired of it and change back some day.
