We then tie the bag with the string to what ever we are working on just to keep things in order. So I would say that the venders are just buying the bags from a company like McMaster-Carr I think they are in their catalog and selling them to us. They come in a box by the hundreds and there are different sizes. Paul 18046
    Paul,

I worked for Eastern Air Lines and that post was deja-vu. I remember those bags by the hundreds everywhere. I probably have some in my old tool box...collector's items now.

I (Restoration Parts Outlet) have had the correct bags from the original manufacturer for more than 15 years. They measure 6 1/2 X 4 3/4, with red stiching, and yellow draw string. You all knew that. Didn't you?

        Hi Kevin,
I've replaced 'discarded items' with original shims and what I believe is a reproduction ( McMaster-Carr ?) bag.
Years ago a person could buy the shims at Carlisle or Knoxville for a dollar or so. No one cared much about 68 up parts then. Now we have air cleaner wing-nuts that go for ....?
        Regards,
        Alan

PS: I still keep looking for a nice stained, rusty, bag.

Hi Alan. Check out ebay, original bags show up relatively often. One really nice one, with the shims and washers, recently sold for $22. I've seen others sell in the $50-$60 range.
