Don't post a lot of information on this board IF you want to purchase the car for yourself. You will just be giving the location of your barn find to 15,000+ people. It won't be pretty!

Re: Another 66 barn find whats it worth w/ pic's
Hi Kevin
My assumption was that you made this post to be able to gather as much info as possible to make an educated pricing decision.
The tags are the best indicator at this point of what it "Really Is" since the POP is not available.
Anything red and/or black raises immediate suspicion as to the original color.
For example, yes, apparent repaint since the sills should be body color.
If originality is not a concern, at that price, who cares, just buy it an drive it.
Joe's right, less publicity the better.
Since I have no funds and am without the opportunity of obtaining any, I would be happy to help.
Please feel free to communicate through a PM if you wish to pursue further.

Thanks again for all your help,

Re: Another 66 barn find whats it worth w/ pic's
To answer your question Kevin, in addition to the obvious tags, pad, stamps and castings, more than I can type-in.
Sounds like you need to call Eric in the Cincinnati office and have him overnight a JG to you.
It's all in there. Everything you need at this point.
The best $30.00 you could ever spend.
Then you might think about having a qualified (Trustworthy) person look at ther car with you.
The authentication book would be a good acquisition also.
If you get into a bind, call me.

That's a great idea, I'll try to pick up the JG asap! I did just review the black book and found the several combo's you're talking about.
As far as the Trustworthy assistant I have that too and he's looking at the pictures as I type (and trying to talk me out of this car). A lot of work never frightened me before why start now. The best thing now is to see the car in person and check for previous damage if any. With a NOM and a repaint I wouldn't be surprised to find more issues.
Just had my first oppurtunity to judge 65/66 last weekend. I pushed the pencil with a very knowledgable master judge on exterior. I learned volumes in one day! Just the begining, have a long way to go, but this "subject" seems perfect.

Re: Another 66 barn find whats it worth w/ pic's
Thought that I would give you guy's a follow up on this one. Had a chance to see the car in person, along with another interested buyer at the same time. First the frame was in great condition as far as rust. It was originally a Red/Red vinyl, St Louis built, non original side pipe car (hangers were still on the rear),L79 (6000 tach.),non running NOM but the late 66 casting, Four speed, Sept. 65 build (very early 17xx),no doc's, posi, original- glass (except drivers door),carb. alt. intake, dist., exhaust manifolds, wiper arms. The interior was in need of a complete resto but a new set of carpets were included. Dash was faded but not cracked and all guages faded. The car was painted black and in fair/good condition but would need to be repainted, along with body damage at each wheel well and the rear. No spare tire, carrier, or housing. Missing several interior parts. Convertible top was pretty rough stained and torn, and the radiator was replaced. The odometer read 29,xxx had to plus 100,k (not a 30k mile car).
The other buyer offered the owner 25k but they didn't take and said they had to give it some thought. My feelings are pass ............NOM, didn't check the trans, body damage all they way around the car, low option SB 66 convertible.
Thoughts,

Kevin everyone has a different view on things, mine is unless your able to do major body, paint and mech work and love to do it, today buy a car thats done you will save a lot of time and lot of money not to mention all the BS the sleepless nights and diarrhea you get from restoring one. You must do your homework and I dont mean just a JG manual. I would pass too on this car at a price above 23,500 Phil 8063- Top
