    NOS Sidepipes

I was wondering how authentic these "NOS Side Pipes" might be as they have a "0" before the GM part number of 3877215 and 3877216.

The part numbers indicate small block but the seller doesn't indicate in his listing.

        Rick-----

I have no doubt that these are GM SERVICE pieces. These are the small block parts, as you have otherwise determined.

          Joe,
Thanks for your reply. Are you aware of service replacement side pipe sound quality versus original pipes. Are they about the same or substantially louder?

Replacement pipes real loud compared to nos pipes.

Rick; I bought this NOS RH side pipe for my 67 BB (my original one rusted through) and it sounds just like it is supposed to. Not loud like the after market ones. Bill

As far as GM pieces are concerned, I don't think there's any difference between GM SERVICE pieces and the originals used in PRODUCTION, at least as far as sound level and "tone" are concerned. There may be minor configuration differences between those originally used in PRODUCTION and those sold in later SERVICE, though.

AFTERMARKET replacements/"reproductions" for these pipes are usually louder.

                  Rick,

Those are SB 2" sidepipes as opposed to the 2.5" sidepipes. Those would be for the 66-67 and NOT for the earlier larger exhaust manifolds.

Thanks for the info. I have a 67 SB, which would be correct for my car.

If you are looking for the original sidepipe sound, like Walker made, you might want to check this: http://www.sweet-thunder.com/corvette_sidepipes_coming_soon.html
