    Re: Evidence of fiberglass

A scan of the front (with the title of the manual describing the model years covered by the manual) and some of the content clearly referring to the body material should do the trick. Is anyone able to provide me this?

    thanks,
    Rob.

Rob - I am happy to help out here and give the customs guys a ring to push this forward. These guys are typically full of crap so we may need a sturdy hand here.

I understand the approach you are taking but to be honest I think it is the wrong approach

        Re: Evidence of fiberglass

Another suggestion to convince them could be one or more factory pictures clearly showing the '71 car is made from fiberglass (or another '68 -'72 type of car, since they all look similar). Is there anyone who can provide me such an image?

        thanks,
        Rob.

The Customs guys would probably never believe you if you said that early Ferrari 308s were made of fiberglass too....

                Good luck in your quest.

Ontario Orange with a blue interior. Neat. That is one combination I haven't seen yet -- and I thought I had seen them all. I'm sure they made the exterior color just for the Netherlands.

                      Rob -

Try these - Shows the C3 body going together in the Body Shop, and entering the paint shop (you can see the bond seams here). If you were going through this in Mexico, the solution would be simple - "mordida" (bribe).

                        Re: Evidence of fiberglass

Based on John Hinckley's suggestion, I scanned the front cover of the 1971 Chevy Chassis Service Manual and the introductory page to the Corvette Body section. The general description CLEARLY states the Covette's body technology uses fiberglass reinforced plastic panels attached to underlying steel support structures.

Now, let's see if the bureacrats can ignore that!!!

Thanks John, I've included the last photo (showing the resin droppings) also in the "evidence pack" I've sent to the customs this morning. Now, lets wait and pray...
