    Spring question

Since we are currently rebuilding our complete base level of our house (which consumes a lot of time) I have no access to my Corvette manuals. So I'm unable to check a lot of stuff again my new '63/'64 TR manual on my '63 car.

I was wondering if the shown rear spring could be original to the car. I think not because a lot of stuff in the rear suspension of the car seems to be replaced with service parts or replacements of other, later model year cars.

Please let me know your thoughts after examining this picture.

    regards,
    Rob.

    Re: Spring question

Rob, I do not believe that is a 63 spring. It was either 9 leaves (standard suspension) or 7 leaves (HD suspension). From the picture I count 8 leaves.

Some 63 spring characteristics, there are plastic lines between all the leaves, except the top two. The ends of all the leaves curve up. The overall shape of each leaf is to curve down.

Later today I'll post a picture of a 63 spring I just restored.

    Cheers

        Nice job Harry!

Lots of info in past Corvette Restorer if you have the CD.
Also do a search on subject, know "1963 leaf spring Q" and "1963 standard suspension" posts have some good info.
