1974 Convertible Winter Storage - Top Up?

...or down. It's almost that time again for the October to April Corvette sleep. This is my first convertible. The facility is commercial with a constant temp of 55-60*F. Capacity is ~400 vehicles and it is secure and attended by a small staff. I have stored Corvettes there for many years but never a convertible. The car will sit for that time period.

My 1974 has a Haartz canvas top (not vinyl). Should I store the car with the top up or down? The car will have a full-vehicle cover as well.

    Top up to avoid shrinkage.

      PAUL-

My 74 is stored Top Up, also kept in a climate controlled garage.

              Marty,
I finally got my seats done. Took many weeks what with welding the bottom reinforcement plates on the new frames, etc. But they are finished and I am pretty happy with the results. And the Haartz top has been treated with RaggTopp. So I go into the long Canadian winter with some satisfaction of having a few things completed during 2008. In fact I don't have much more to do. But I saw the pics of your engine compartment!! I have just a...driver in comparison.

Re-inforcement plates. Early C3s need these..

Nice to have those shoulder seat-belt pass-throughs that I lacked before.

              The old and departed.

At the risk of sounding silly, which I am, at what ambient temp does the rear window crack?

If the ambient temperature is below 40 degrees F - I would not move the top.

Depending on age of the window, the quality of the material it was made from, and the overall condition, 40 degrees is a minimum temperature.

It's a Haartz canvas top. Tonight will be 30*F. I am leaving the car alone with top up as suggested earlier.
