I just got a set of spinners that were advertised as follows:
"This is a complete set of four new reproduction 1956-1962 Corvette hubcap spinners. Included in the set are screws and retainer rings, which are also "just like the original" These are exact reproduction parts and they also carry the "GM Restoration Parts" logo. There are currently several different reproductions of these spinners. This part has the raised edge along the flipper part of the spinner. This feature is one of the points that are scrutinized during judging per NCRS judging standards."
I am surprised they are made in Taiwan and have the GM Restoration Parts logo on the packaging. Is that very common to have parts with that logo made outside the U.S. ?
Has anyone had any experiences getting these type of spinners judged ? If I rough up the back with sandpaper do you think I would have any deductions because of them ?
They compare quite close to my original spinners which unfortunately are pitted and a chrome shop quoted $200 each to replate.
The originals are smoother on the edge of the flipper part since the raised edge is not very prominent.
