He insisted I have a front plate. Cited me for "proof of compliance" and gave me a week to comply. I'm a retired state police officer from Calif. Go Figure!
did you show him your shield as that usually works.

Terry, The plate attachment on your silver car is downright horrible.
Move to PA guys as we only have one plate.

I agree with John, Terry's Illinois plate is not very pretty. I also live in Illinois and for 10 years I have been driving a C5 w/o a front plate and never have been stoped. Have any of you IL vette drivers been ticketed?

convince the state they can save money by just issuing one plate. all states are trying to save money.

MN is a two-plate state and I've gone the Top Flight Reproductions route on my '05 as well. The GM one is just awful. I really hope some sort of front license provision is included in the design on the C7 model. Not worth the hassle/expense of tickets to run without. My wife is involved in state gov't. and last session the two-plate requirement was rescinded on a voice vote but when challenged was overturned on a roll call. Law Enforcement is the big lobbyist group supporting the two-plate requirement. My '84, however, being 20 years old, qualifies for Collector plates and only one of them needs to be displayed. I run my Collector plate CORVETT on the rear and an NCRS one on the front. The collector plates are a one time purchase with no yearly renewal fee. I'm sure this will change at some point as the state is missing out on significant revenue due to all the collector cars.

John the silver car in that picture is not mine. I own the blue one.

At this stage of my life moving, especially because of the number of plates required, is not an option.

if they have electronic speed detectors in the state they want the front plate to have a flat surface to shoot. i was talking to a KY state trooper at a road side rest where they were shooting speeders and he told me that corvettes without a front plate are hard to get a lock on because of so many angular surfaces.

I am sure that is true -- especially after I heard Dave Ferguson explain how the Corvette/Camaro laid back radiator lead them to discover stealth aircraft technology.
