    A/C compressor "warning" label

Has anyone found a source for a compressor warning label (orange lettering) that is actually legible once installed??

I've prepped/painted the compressor surface to get it dead smooth, but the label's pressure-sensitive adhesive makes it look milky white. The printing can barely be read. (I did install it wet and squeegee out the excess water.)

I wonder if originally this label was a decal, or perhaps a sticker with orange printing on a black background. The latter would make more sense.

Any help greatly appreciated, as always.

Mike -- first, make sure you're getting the correct repro label. Here's a pic of an original on a 10,000 VIN range '65 L76. I have a compressor from a late calendar '64 with the same decal. Note the font and overall decal backing limits.

Checking the repop catalogs, Paragon seems to be the one with similar decal (although the pic is very small). The others (at least those who show a photo) seem to be using the old repro decal [the one that mis-spells REFRIGER_e_NT] and with the skinny font with large letters. This error has been around since the late '80s.

As to your other decal questions, sorry, can't help.
