    340 HP 62 Corvette ?

    My good old 62 has started running poorly with hesitation while cruising. It accelerated good but at cruising speed I get a on and off hesitation.
    I checked the wires, plugs and timeing and checked for a vacuum leak but everything was ok. It did seem like the driver side plugs were burning a little hotter then the other bank.
    When adjusting idle air, the drivers side adjustment had very little affect in the idle.
    I removed the carb, disassembled and cleaned it, put in a new fuel filter and after installing it the same sympton occurs.
    Any thoughts on my problem will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    I would check for a fuel starvation problem. Check your fuel pressure to spec to eliminate that as a problem. Also maybe a visual inspection of fuel line to make sure there are no problems there such as leaks. Eliminate fuel delivery and then start looking at spark. Just a start.

      Can you put the carb from your other Corvette on there? Depending on what you used to clean the carb it might not have gotten everything out. If it accelerates hard with no problem it doesn't seem to be as starvation problem. Does it do it only after engine is warmed up? If the carb checks out then I would try a tune up with new parts, one at a time to try and pin point the problem.

        Bruce;

        This summer I had a similar problem with my 1963 340HP car. It would start and idle fine but would hesitate on acceleration or while cruising if I pressed the gas pedal ever so slightly. The problem drove me nuts for weeks. It turned out to be a defective fuel pump... not your normal defect but rather a broken pivot point. The pump would supply fuel but not in great quantity.. so start up was fine as was idle.. acceleration, after a few seconds saw hesitation as did prolonged cruising.

        Now, this may not be your issue, but I do agree with someone else to look at fuel first... delivery volume in addition to pressure. BTW the pump in question was a reproduction, with roughly 1000 miles on it!

        Good luck,

        Joel

          Terry;
          I have a nos 3269S carb which I put on and appears to cured the problem.
          I will take a long ride later today to be sure it is ok.
          At least it is a good reason to take a ride.

            Joel;
            I believe I took care of the problem with a new carb.
            But I will check fuel pressure when I get a chance.
            Thanks,
