Joe, I'm curious, how did you solve the pre-ignition problem in 1975?

In 1975 I replaced the original engine with a brand new GM short block assembly identical to the original engine. I used my original cylinder heads, completely rebuilt. Everything else on the engine was completely stock. The engine pinged just like the original engine.

For other reasons I won't get into here, I very soon thereafter replaced the original heads with brand new GM #336746 cylinder heads. These heads, casting #3991492, had the exact same combustion chamber size as the original heads, the larger intake and exhaust valves, and angled spark plugs. ALL of my engine pinging went away COMPLETELY. I could even run REGULAR gas with no pinging, at all.

Joe, I have that same article, even today, and did the same thing as I did with new car sales literature but was never able at the time to purchase any of the cars. I too, disliked ragtops and always chose coupes, however my 67 I bought in 83 is the car I would have chosen back in high school but is a ragtop...now worth more money so wise buy I guess but still prefer coupe
bought car on whim since I never owned ragtop, still don't like....LOL. Nice to have a car you bought back in the day, a dream I never accomplished
