Top Flight at Metro-LI (pics)

In my first attempt at Flight Judging, my 73 454 came home with a Top Flight. Huge thanks to all on the board who answered my seemingly endless questions about both parts and the judging process.

I was sandwiched between 2 other C3 big blocks, a green 69 427 and an orange Bloomington Gold 71 454...

Beautiful car and nice pictures. Thanks for sharing with us. Always liked the 73's for their uniqueness; what with the front only endura bumper and functional dual exhausts. One of the best of the C-3's, in my opinion.

William, your car looks fantastic! With all the questions you had in the past few weeks I thought your car might be needing a bit more work. I bet it's nice to start near the top the first time out. Way to go!

What areas were your strongest? Looking at your PICS I bet your Mechanical was the highest? Looks like a pretty nice engine compartment.

What is your build date and/or the last four digits of your VIN # to see where your car falls in production with mine?

My VIN # 2051 and build date was Wednesday September 12, 1972.

Thanks. I did great on Operations, Mechanical and Interior. Lost some points on Exterior (original 35 year old paint and glass will do that to you). My worst was Chassis, although not bad enough to drop out of Top Flight. I will wait to get my judging sheets in the mail and will go to work on a few items.

Your car being later APR 73 car...

Does your car have that rubbler flap extension that is rivetted on the front air dam? I thought I read that they started putting them on cars after VIN # 3000 due to overheating on the BB LS4 cars. I have only seen this flap on one car.
