    De-vaning a smog pump

    Does anyone have a how-to for me on removing the vanes on a 70-72 smog pump so that it is no longer functional, but still presentable on the car, and with the pulley able to turn, etc. (part 2--how do you remove the fan without breaking it)

    Their are three taped holes in the metal hub that the fan is pressed on. I drilled three holes in a steel 1/4 plate to match the hub holes and a threaded a hole in the center to push on the shaft. With three bolts in the holes it will come off easy. With the back off the pump you can press on the shaft to remove the drum. If the vanes won't come through the top of the drum you need to pull it out with a puller to remove the vanes.
    With this done you need to plug the tubes from the manifolds because you will have noise coming out the pump and the other parts in the system may be damaged.

      i'm gonna turn you into the EPA. shame on you rev. mikie( BTW, vanless 67 K-19 known to reside in Cumberland--- it was an easy job)
