I am in the process of replacing my radio bezel which is badly pitted. The 67 TIM & Judging Guide indicates the bezel is stainless steel. No one sells a stainless steel bezel. All of the suppliers seem to advertise a bright chrome bezel. I finally found an original NOS bezel from DocRebuild and was informed the originals were polished aluminum. This seems to make since it would be pretty hard to bend the tabs onto the dash cut out if they were steel. Is the Judging Guide wrong saying the bezels are stainless steel?

Greg:
I just reinstalled my original 1965 bezel (after oh so many years), and it is bright aluminum. Wouldn't go so far as to call it "polished".
My 2000 vintage Judging Guide correctly describes the material as aluminum.
I can't imagine that this part was changed to SS for 1967, but I suppose it's remotely possible. Bending those tabs would be fun, as you point out!- Top
