1956 SR Pic

I came across an interest pic of a 56 SR car. The pic is small - 2 inches x 3 inches - but shows some nice detail nonetheless.

I am passing the photo on to to John Neas for safekeeping. But John and I wanted to post the photo here for the obvious reasons.



(I apologize for adding a watermark to the pic. I spend a fair amount of money and time buying pics and movies and putting them on the web. I was dismayed recently to find some of my stuff "borrowed without attribution" and posted on a for-profit website. That just seems wrong to me. So I am going to start adding watermarks to prevent this. If anybody would like a pic for non-commercial use without the copyright, just lemme know. I will email it to you.)

Prototype body, no fender scoops, no side trim, looks like Alfin drums on the front, special early metal scoops welded on, notice the white paint over spray, side scoops being installed.

Very special very illuminating picture...probably in the hanger garage at Sebring, Florida March 1956

Is the interior black? I "assumed" they ('56 SR's) all had the beige interior.

By memory I believe the interior in the #1 car was red. The #7 car was red interior from the factory ( #1009),had a partial beige interior installed but maintained a red drivers seat for all races in 1956. The interior colors including paint was inconsistant from car to car.
