I recall reading, sometime ago, that there were two different part numbers for the GM approved Highway Emergency Kit of the 1960's. Perhaps there was one part number for midyears and another part number for 1968 and up models. I have a kit with part number 986792. Does anyone know the other part number? What would be the first model year that each part number would have been available from a GM dealer?

Re: Highway Emergency Kit
I had that kit in my 67, I dont know if you'll get your answer being a dealer accessory ,NCRS members dont reconize to many "dealer"accessories.
But I've had many C1's and when I had kids this was my C1 Emergency kits.

Re: Highway Emergency Kit
Thanks for posting the photos of part number 986792. Some NCRS member must have a kit with the other part number. Whether, anyone will know the year that each part number was first available from a GM dealers may be the challenge.- Top

Re: Highway Emergency Kit
The 986792 Highway Emergency Kit was removed from SERVICE 10-69 according to Chevrolet Parts History, P&A 30H. It became available between Mar 1964 (not in that Chevrolet P&A Catalog) and Oct 1966 (listed in that Chevrolet P&A Catalog, G/N 8.821) Pete- Top

Re: Highway Emergency Kit
The 9-71 Rev of the Corvette Parts Book shows p/n 993537 Hazard Unit for 70-72. It could have been available after 72. The unit consists of 1 fire extinguisher, 1 tire inflater, 2 distress flares, 1 distress flag, and 1 box of fuses. Pete- Top
