    Vintage 57 FI Pic

I stumbled on a small stash of professional 8x10 pics taken at the La Habra, CA Corn Festival circa 1954 to 1960. I grew up in Whittier about 2 miles from where these pics were taken. I don't think I ever went to the corn festival, however.

I wonder if the driver had any idea how good he had it.

(I apologize for adding a watermark to the pic. I spend a fair amount of money and time buying pics and movies and putting them on the web. I was dismayed recently to find some of my stuff "borrowed without attribution" and posted on a for-profit website. That just seems wrong to me. So I am going to start adding watermarks to prevent this. If anybody would like a pic for non-commercial use without the copyright, just lemme know. I will email it to you.)

        Russ,

I doubt it. As they say, youth is wasted on the young. If this guy was the owner of that car (as opposed to driving it for the local Chebby dealer, etc.), I am sure having owned it is one of his fondest memories. I am sure it was socially advantageous to have such a car.

        Thanks for the picture!

Roy, remember when we used to turn the whitewalls to the inside to get blackwalls cause not many of the tire manufacturer's were making blackwalls as blackwalls were in. Conversely in the late 60's there weren't too many whitewalls being made and alot of folks bought blackwall tires and had the narrow whitewalls glued (however they were applied) on by the tire dealer. The car apppears to be red, and also appears to have wheels painted the same color as the car. Anyone agree?
