1956 Red Engine Paint Code

Hi,

I've just had the 265 engine in my 56 rebuilt so it needs painting, I'm in the UK and can not easily get paint sent over from America. Does anyone know the RAL number for this color? I could then get it mixed over here.

I dont but if you use FORD red engine paint your so close it wont matter

Have you phoned Tom Falconer, NCRS Chapter Judging Chairman, to see where he sources the various shades of Chevy orange in the UK?

Bill Hirsch has the correct color.

There is a guy in the UK that stocks POR15 and has Orange available off the shelf, he also has Ford Red. I will ask him nicely if he can get some shipped over on his next order if not I will try the Ford Red suggestion.

Paul,

I had used the POR15 Chevy Red a few years ago on my '56 motor and I found it to be very pink in color. Could have been a bad lot, but nonetheless it wasn't close.... so I re-scuffed the block and used Hirsch's paint instead.
