65 BB Coupe, Lazy Right Turn Signal

    Good afternoon,

My 65 has always had a slow blinking right turn signal. Others have told me it's a bad ground. I've cleaned all the contacts I can find save for the sending unit and cleaned the grounding points....that I can find anyway.
Is the issue the sending unit or somewhere else or in something else? BTW, brightness right or left appear to be equal.
    Thanks again for your help.

I assume you are calling the flasher the "sending unit". This item is common to both left and right signals so it isn't the culprit.
I also assume the correct bulbs are in ALL locations for equal current draw....

Get your wiring diagram out and trace the wiring for the right signal circuitry. Note ALL the contact locations/connections and clean them. If you've already cleaned the contacts at the bulbs and the appropriate grounds then a very probable cause would be the bulkhead connector where the wiring passes thru the firewall behind the fuse block, or the connection of the wiring from the steering column to the main harness above the clutch pedal. Don't forget the ground straps at the motor mount and the left body mount, even tho these are common to both left and right signals. There is also a specific ground point on each rear light housing that may be the cause......
    Good luck.

      Thank you Stephen.

I have not looked at the main terminal block nor have I thought about incorrect bulbs. I will check all the other points you mentioned as well. Again, my thanks.

I would try running a separate ground wire from the light housing mount studs to a good ground.

I went from a lazy right turn signal, in very short order, too flashing lights that look like I won the slots at AC when I put the right signal on. Checked everything out and turned out to be the switch itself, am in the process of waiting for a new switch to arrive shortly. Will advise as to how it works out. Good luck.

Usually this problem occurs when there is a bulb mismatch - that is something easy to check. I (like Steve mentioned) would check that first.....

Thank you all for your help. I'll check out the bulbs tonight. I love the easy fix.

              My thanks again.
