    fuel pump 1960

hello, I installed an inline fuel filter between fuel pump and carb to double check for dirt in gas tank sense car had been sitting awhile, after running motor for a while, a few days later filter is empty and I have to crank and crank to get gas back in filter this has happened several times, shouldn't the fuel pump have a check valve to keep fuel line full, thanks mike

You should have more than enough fuel in the float bowl to start and run the engine long enough to refill the pump-to-carb line; if you don't see an accelerator pump shot from the squirters when you move the throttle linkage after sitting for a few days, it's time to look at the WCFB for a crack or leak.
