    1965-67 Reproduction Hood Latches

    Good morning,

Does anyone have experience with the reproduction 1965-7 "zinc-plated" female hood latches that mount on the firewall? Are they the correct plating/color, and properly-rivetted for judging? How about the male hood lock pins?

I typically prefer used original (and my originals were beaded/clear-coated a decade ago), and am trying to decide if I'll be happy with these reproductions. If not, can anyone reccomend a good re-plater?

    Thanks for your time,

    Carl

The differences I have noticed are in the tooling marks. Originals have parallel scratches all down the sides from manufacturing, which I don't see in reproductions. Also, the large adjustment screw that the hood bumper fits onto is different, but it is hidden. I don't recall a difference in the rivet. Also, the plating appears brighter on the reproductions. I have an NOS set and the plating is not as bright and reflective, but that could be due to age.

Carl, I have used the reprocuctions and had difficutly with the fit. As delivered mine would not allow installation of the upper bolt. The cure for mine was to tweak the two upper bends to allow the bolt hole to line up...replating is preferrable in my opinion.
