    C2 - '66 Seatbelt Restoration

I've been retoring my '66 for the past few years (seems like forever) but finally started on the interior. My seat belts were pretty ratty in that the webbing was all frayed but the hardware was pretty good. This year at Carlisle, I took the recommendation of many others and had Charlie Santorelli (Seatbelt Sity) restore them for me. Needless to say, the job he did on them was nothing less than FANTASTIC!!!!! Used my labels and HW, just reconditioned the metal pieces where needed. But the re-paint of the buckles is the best. Flawless. I'd recommend him to anyone that's serious about getting a good restoration done on their belts. Charlie, if you read this forum, THANK YOU!!!!!

If anyone has any doubts, here' the finished product....

Frank, Thanks for the update and the pics. I was just looking into Seatbelt Sity as a friend had also recommended them. Your belts and hardware came out terrific! I'll definitely give Charlie a call for my '65.

Greg... I know you won't be disappointed with his work. Now I must caution you that he's not a talker. Strictly business, if you know what I mean.....

I had some Spares in addition to relatively good originals in my car, Charley gave me fair credit for the spares and re-used much of my original stuff, outstanding work, at a very fair price. Would recommend him anytime.

I've used Charlie as well. He restored the belts on my 1965 and provided an excellent set for my 1963. Charlie lives not too far from me so I have visited with him a few times in person. He is an interesting character to say the least, but he turns out excellent work!

Charlie did the belts for my 63 too. Great job. As the others mentioned, he doesn't chit chat. He sure sends back some nicely done belts. Fair prices too.

I forgot to mention about his prices. Very reasonable. I gave him what I thought was junk, even though I cleaned up the hardware, they still looked bad to me. He gave me a surprisingly amount of credit on the restoration for it. And the total cost to restore was about half the cost of SSynake-oyl. That included new webbing, retractors (even though I still have one original, I think) and new boots. Everything was just superior.....

Charlie did my Saddle 63 belts, hard to hide dirt and stains on Saddle belts. He did a great job! Don't go anywhere else!

                    Hello Frank,

Maybe I'm just looking at the picture incorrectly, but it looks like the roller is on the wrong side of the belt. If you pull the belt out of the pocket all the way, will your roller be away from the user's body and not up against it?

I spoke to Charlie today and will be sending him some 67 cores that I happen to have as credit towards a correct set of late '65 belts. Thanks for the feedback everyone! It's always nice to hear some reassuring voices when sending parts out of state.

                        Hi Robert....
I think you are correct. My roller, when the belt is extended is against the person's body. I didn't notice the configuration when I took it off but it doesn't make sense that the metal retractor would be against clothing or anything else that may interfere with it's operation or cause damage to clothing. I am right in my thoughts here, right?

                          Hello Frank,

That is correct, the roller should be to the outside of the belt. Also, the "hinge" or metal ring of the retractor should be toward the buckle. The attached picture should help. Sorry, I don't mean to nit pick, it will be a lot more comfortable this way.

                          Thanks,

                          Bob

Thanks for the pics. I went looking through a lot of the books I have looking for interior pics after you pointed it out. And thanks for that.... Anyway, I've made them correct and shouldn't have anymore issues with them. I appreciate your help.....

                            Thanks...
