    Straight water pump fitting

Does the original '63 fitting on the 340 have 2 notches on each shoulder or one?
    Thanks in advance. Aloha.

        Thanks Joel,
Not sure. Trying if get an answer on exactly what the original fitting had (either one notch per shoulder or two). I can get either one, I just want to match what I originally had. Do you know if yours is an exact match to what was original on there?

OK you guys; I have to know how this is going to turn out (from a '65 perspective). I assume you're asking about the waterpump nipple that connects to heater/expansion tank (first pic). This is on a donated replacement water pump that was on a '64 or '65 non-C60 car. The hex is 7/8" across the flats and also 7/8" along the flat [as the '65 TIM&JG says]. No mention of notches on shoulder, but this could be a '63-4 thing.

Quick check of repop catalogs claims same nipple for all C2 years and again no mention of notches. Could someone post a pic with notches ?

2nd item (slightly off-topic, but in same general area, and off the same pump). Anyone seen a top bypass fitting (hi-horse small blocks) with the upside down capital 'P' in the diamonds ? (or maybe it's an upright lowercase 'd' ). However, the '65 TIM&JG states "known original fittings have logos on one or both sides. One side has a series of diamonds connected vertically. The opposite side may have a logo with letters "CP" inscribed within a diamond and a circle, which repeats vertically" Mine only has the vertical inscriptions on one face.

So is this an acceptable bypass fitting for '64 and or '65 ?

I believe it's a "P" and I believe it represents the manufacturer, Parker-Hannifin Corporation. They have supplied such fittings to GM for years and they are still very much in business.
