    Mystery Wire On '75 Solenoid

I'm just re-wrapping harnesses getting ready to install the engine, and I have an wire that came off of the 12v (BATTERY) terminal of the solenoid that is not shown in the Hayes or Chilton diagrams that I have.
There was definitely a previous meltdown in the lower harness that was repaired (Bubba).

There is a Red #12 going to the fuse link wire to the battery terminal.

There is a smaller Red (purple?) wire that came from the start side of the solenoid.

There is a black ground wire that was attached to a bellhousing bolt.

The mystery wire is a Black (could be blue) wire, about 14/16 ga, with a fuse link and large ring terminal in it. It definitely came off of the battery terminal, and appears to be in the original engine harness, and goes all the way back to the bulkhead connector.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

    Thanks

Sounds like the fuseable link that was spliced in at that area of the engine harness and hidden by the tape wrap of the harness. The fuseable link was there to protect the car in the event of electrical overstress (not all circuits in the car are protected by fuse/circuit breaker)....

      Thanks Jack,

Upon further review, there are 2 power wires in the engine harness, each protected with a fusable link. 1 red wire, 1 blue wire...both wires were originally connected to a single ring terminal. It just took a little detective work to figure the original configuration....still puzzled why the diagrams don't show the blue wire....definitely original equipment.

Anyway, MAYBE this weekend we get FIRED UP!
