I have two AIR pumps and the bolds holding the black back piece to the front silver part of the pump are different. One has bolds with WB on them (I think this is correct) and the other one has bolds with an anchor on them. Are the WB bolts correct? Thanks Paul

I have seen the "WB" bolts on original pumps. However, I don't think they were used exclusively. I've also seen the "anchor" bolts. It may very well be that the bolts on your pump are all original even though they have different headmarkings. Also, if the pump has ever been through a commercial rebuilding operation, then different bolt headmarks are common, even though all the bolts are usually original. Rebuilders often re-use these bolts but not on a specific pump. They strip the pumps down to individual components, including bolts, and after re-conditioning, they go into bins for use in building up rebuilt pumps.
So, what bolts pre-dominated in 1971" Probably the "WB" but, as I say, I very much doubt they were used exclusively. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Attached are photos of an NOS GM #7806686 pump as used for the 1968 model year as well as 1969 L-88/ZL-1. Note that this pump has "SBC" headmark bolts. This pump was manufactured in mid-1968.
I also have a few NOS GM #7803948 pumps as used for 1969-74 Corvettes, but they're a lot harder for me to get at, so I can't provide photos of the bolts used on them. No matter, though, as I say, different bolts may have been used, even on the same pump. I would consider any period-correct bolt to be correct. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
