A few years ago NAPA was owned by Dana Corp. and typically sold Dana brand OE replacement parts, like Clevite, but did not sell Federal Mogul OE replacement brands like Sealed Power.
A couple of years ago Dana sold their Controls Division to Standard Motor Products, (which included the Echlin brand), and I believe they also sold NAPA, but I'm not sure to whom. Does anyone know who owns NAPA now?
They have completely redone their web site, and now their OE replacement parts all seem to be Sealed Power.
An example I used in their online parts catalog/cross reference is the GM 3911068 SB valve spring. In the past NAPA sold the Clevite 2121150, but not the Sealed Power VS677. Now, if you cross reference 3911068 the result is VS677; 2121150 comes up "no matching results", but cross referencing it yields the VS677. These are all the same parts. That's not the issue.
My question is who owns NAPA now, and why have they dropped the Clevite line and replaced it with Sealed Power. I suspect it has something to do with the a change or ownership, and I'm interested in the whole story if anyone knows it.
