    1960 Water Pump # Correct???

    Hello,

For the 60 Vette folks. The GM pump on my client's car is 6736403; I don't know if this is correct; I have searched on Google to no avail. Thx in advance for the assist.

I think you will find the number is actually 3736493; casting numbers are notoriously difficult to "decipher". This pump casting will have no external bypass fitting and a "flat" boss on the top surface of the pump (where the bypass fitting would otherwise be located).

The 3736493 is the correct casting number for a 1960 Corvette waterpump. Assuming that the pump is a Saginaw-cast piece (i.e. no reinforcing ribs on the driver side of the pump), it's the correct pump for the car.

Also, there never was a GM waterpump with a casting number of 6736403, so you'll search a LONG time for that number.

      Joe,

You're right! My old pilot eyes are going going. I'm gonna send the unit to Mr. Gould for rebuild.

      Thx again!
