    C1 Caepet Install

What is the trick in installing the hold down screws without getting a snag in the carpet. When the is carpet glued and I tried to put the screws in I put a 6 inch snag in the carpet. Do you try to find the holes from the bottom and put an awl through the bottom to make the holes in the carpet for the screws?

    Help

Wrap tape around the threads of the screw so it does not snag the fibers.

I vote for making a hole with a sharp object, like ice-pick. OK, for everybody, too young to know what an ice-pick is, try an awl.

I used an awl in three C-1 installs.

I just installed new carpet over some Lowes or Home Depot foil insulation. I didn't see any holes in the floor for anchor screws. Where are they agaain?

Thanks guys. I knew if I kept that ice pick i'd find a use for it. The hole to be made from the bottom up I assume.

              John -

You can see them from underneath the car.

The AIM shows 2 per side (4 total) - 1 upper and 1 lower. I couldn't find the lower ones on my '62. The upper ones are there. But not the lowers.

                  C1 Carpet Screw Photo

                  Hi all,

Here is a photo of the passenger side of an unrestored '58 showing the locations of the screws. Basically a mirror image on the driver side. The holes should be findable from behind and an icepick or small nail can be used to push through so the screws can be installed in the right place from inside.
