    C3 Front Distribution Block Bracket Finish

    Hello all,
    I am trying to determine if the front distribution block (left front) bracket is gold dichromate or a cad finish. I am asking about the bracket that attaches the distribution block to the frame. Hard to tell what it was on my car. Car is a late 71. I have seen them advertised in both finishes and couldn't find the info in the TIM & JG. Thanks for the input.

      Hi Joe,
      I looked at your picture and thought... "Boy, would I be tempted to take a look under that shouldered bolt, and the under-side of the bracket".
      Or do you know that the bracket's been off in during it's life?

          My late 70 bracket looked like "silver cad" beneath the shoulder bolt and I replated it using a caswell copycad system. Came out nice except for some minor rust pitting which isn't noticeable mounted on the car.

              Joe,
              My 71 #21467 has a gold bracket. It's a low mileage Bowtie car so I'm sure its original. I've never noticed it before but it is a gold that is very distinct.

                      Most of those brackets you see unrestored look like natural steel.It's good Daves part still has some original plating left. Can you see the gold on yours as I can't in the picture.

                          Joe,

                          I went out and looked at mine (71 LS5 S/N 1632) and at first glance it appears to be sliver, but upon closer inspection, the only reason it looks silver is because the gold plating is wearing away. I tried to get some pictures, but it is in a non-camera friendly area of the car.........
