    '63 Front Coil Springs

Judging question....which, if any, are the correct repros.
    Long Island - 8 coils

    Corvette Central - 7 coils

    ???
Just realized...the links are almost identical. They are both www.parts123.com. Both LI and CC must buy their parts from the same repro. depot and LIs are $9 cheaper.
Okay new question....Are these correct for judging? If not, is there a place to buy the correct ones?

P.S. Weird, the coil on my drivers side, down in the lower control arm, is snapped about 2 inches from the end. SNAPPED. the coil appears to be 3/4" thick...and it snapped. Has anyone ever seen this ahappen before?

Irby, send me a PM or an email with your email address and I'll send you some 63 spring pictures, then you can access for yourself what the parts folks have.

I been looking into replacing the front springs on my 63. It seems most of the usual suppliers have a generic spring that covers many years. I've asked what the rated weight is and most of the them can't answer the question. I'm mostly concerned with correct ride height.

I replaced the front springs on my 63 with the stock 63 spring from LIC. This spring has one extra coil but from my memory is the same wire dia. as OE spring. I recall the spring made the car sit approx 1/4" higher than the old spring at 25 3/4" from floor to bottom of fender lip and I was hoping for about 1/2" more. The LIC corvette spring looked identical to the original spring except for the extra turn on the coil. It is not a progressive spring like used in 64-up.

The rear has it's original nine leaf with new liners and is approx 26 3/4" tall to fender lip. I personally feel the car sits too low in the front but I am not sure what if anything I will do about it.

I had a coil spring break on a new car (brand F). Broken coils are rare and are almost always due to a manufacturing flaw (like foreign material in the steel) or due to corrosion. Now leaf springs....

Pssssst - parts123 is a shopping cart manufacturer, not a Corvette parts manufacturer - as in - buy it now shopping carts.
