    Chapter Judging Retreat

Just curious if any Chapters have taken advantage of the new Chapter Judging Retreat program that Roy announced earlier this year?

Taking the first steps, just last night I emailed several members of my local Chapter to see if there is any interest. As Roy mentioned in his description of requirements it looks like it will be a lot of work but very rewarding to those who attend!

    Coments and thoughts?

    Kevin

        Re: Chapter Judging Retreat

Other then the National Juding retreat(20points) here is the list given in Roy's article.

Here is a list of the point allocations from the types of judging schools available now:

        1. Chapter or Regional judging school 1 point

        2. Regional Advanced judging seminars 3 points -all day must attend both morning and afternoon sessions

        3. National judging seminars 3 points Classroom instruction

        4. National Advanced seminars 5 points - all day must attend both morning and afternoon sessions

        5. Chapter retreat training series 5 points 2 days one day classroom, one day hands on

I was lucky to have attended one National Retreat, it sure would be nice to have members that didn't get have a chance to take the oppurtunity to see how it works!

            Will do!

That's great! It couldn't be more convieniant, Bruce lives just around the corner, (a country block about 5 miles or so).

This brings up another question, do you have to be a member of the Chapter? I belong to the Delaware Valley Chapther but not the CNJ yet. However, I have been meaning to join.

Thanks for the heads up Howard! Will I see you there?

                Re: Chapter Judging Retreat

The Miami Valley Chapter (Dayton, Ohio area) is planning on having a Chapter Retreat this winter. We were wondering if there are more specific guidelines than what Roy said in his Restorer article. Our judging chairman is contacting Roy but I have not heard if he has had a reply. Does anyone know of specific guidelines for the Chapter Retreat other than what was outlined in the article this spring? Thanks!

Terry, that was the motive behind making the original post. I was hoping to learn a few things while informing others at the same time. Certainly it would be very helpful to have another member that attended the National Retreat in Dallas help orchestrate your Chapters Retreat. Perhaps Roy will jump in on this one? In Dallas we spent at least one hour in the classroom reviewing the Flight Judging Operations, Judging 101, Corvette Paint and Fiberglass, Corvette Judging Reference Manual, and Matrix Training. We were provided with handouts for each of the above, perhaps one of your members has these? Along with the DVD's that would probably cover the classroom information. As far as the hands on session, several high quality cars were used as examples (for the sake of originality). Four teams of two students were set up and were given a set amount of time to judge each section of the car. Not to over lap with another team. After said time the two students had to relay there findings with the "owner" followed by a review with the "team leader"(actually master judges). Again I'm looking for a little more specific information as to the Chapter requirements but that's a brief summary. Hope it's a start.

Dick, It's good to see that there are Chapters stepping up to the challenge!

                        Dick,

That is an extensive program that the New England Chapter has put together for their Chapter Retreat. Thanks for sharing it. With the time and expense associated with your program it looks like it should be worth more than 5 judging points.
