    New NASCAR Ad w/ Kevin Harvick

    Just caught a new "Nationwide Insurance" (series sponsor) ad on ESPN featuring Kevin Harvick in a new Blue Z-06 doing a 360 drift in a neighborhood Cul De Sac. Real cool. My kinda guy.

    I saw the TV add too. I am surprised that Nationwide Ins. Co. let them film that. Are they endorsing Drifting now?

        Here's a link to the Harvick Corvette video:

          And here is how they did it:

          "Here is a vid of a Corvette burnout (stunt driver, wet pavement, and smoke cylinders under the car) during the filming of a commercial on my street."

            I think that the add is quite irresponsible on the part of an insurance company. Note the people on the sidewalk. I don't care how skilled the driver and how fake the tire smoke.

              Jim;

              I'm inclined to agree, but you have to consider the audience they are playing to - the wannabees and commandoes that normally drive little rice burners and are willing to plop down their rent payments for auto insurance.

                Consider this add and then think of Chevrolet's ad when the C6 first came out called "A Young Boy's Dream." The ad showed young kids "driving" Corvettes in a dream sequence. It was a killer ad, but a few do-gooders beefed about kids being lured into driving like stunt people and Chevrolet whimped out and pulled the ad. It was/is one of the best ads I have ever seen -- right up there with the classic Apple challenges IBM ad that only ever ran once. I've got it (the Chevrolet ad) on my hard drive (probably illlegal) and in the cold winter months it keeps my Corvette addiction going. The Juming Jack Flash sound track rocks.
