    Re: Drive Shaft removal

Mike and Dennis, Thanks for the info on removing the drive shaft on my 59. It appears that the output shaft has been twisted. My next question is what is the corrrect length of the drive shaft on C-1's. An old GM Parts and Accessories book 68 vintage indicates the shafts length should be 34 35/64" long end to end as the drawing indicates. The one I just removed has a part of the stencil still on it and reads 37123XX and measures 35 7/8" which I believe is the original one to the car. Maybe some on changed it during its life, but I want to be sure I have the corrrect one. The messed up yoke penetrates approx 3 3/4" and has the total length of 4 1/2" which is suppose to be correct.

    Pat -

Your driveshaft was #3712377, and should be 34-1/2" center-to-center of the U-joint trunnion holes; sounds like you have the original shaft and correct "long" yoke.
