C3 1969 painting power brake booster

Is there any possibility of painting a power brake booster without removing it from the car?

Holy mother of god, I can't get the top left nut off the stud under the dash to get my power broke booster free. Cluster has been removed, seat removed, steering column removed, air cond. duct removed, now what?

Why do you want to paint the booster, Jimmy? They were plated originally...

Getting a booster to release is a LOT of fun! See the 'good stuff' you missed all these years by specializing in straight axle cars?

Follow the AIM + Chassis Service Manual, be persistent, and it WILL let go, mon! The good thing is you've done the lion's share of the work clearing out surrounding components that interfere with access...

Come on Jack -- we're talking C3s here. He said his 1971. Gloss Black for the brake booster AND the check valve.

Car is a 1969 conv. as I stated with a Sept. 69 build date. Block was cast on the "18th" birthday.

Well I guess I missed the 1969 reference also. I don't know where I got the 1971 idea from either. The good news is that the booster and check valve are finished the same 1969 or 1971 -- or 1968 to 1972 for that matter.

We got it off finally. Removed the bracket the holds the steering column, then removed the clutch rod (this has a special clip like what is on your shifter rods), finally was able to get a flexible socket 9/16 on it and get it out. I am sure it is gona be fun getting it back.

            synopsis of everything removed:

            dash pad (going to re-dye)
cluster package (odometer reset cable & headlight & wiper door override)
            air cond. duct
            steering column
            drivers seat
            bracket that holds steering column
            clutch rod
loosen master cylinder from the booster itself

If nothing else, you can be happy that you've now accomplished half of the absolutely toughest and worst job possible on a C3 car. I'd rather do anything else on the car than remove and reinstall a power brake booster.

I have done this job and it is not one of my favorite things.Thankfully ALL of the interior was removed but it still was a pain. The body just don't bend and turn like it did when i was 18..By the way...my avitar is a new pic of the car
