1964-67 Shifter Shaft

I have my shifter apart and have noticed that the shaft has a slight bend in it...never noticed this before. It looks like it may have been re-welded at the base as to fall to hand easier? Is this correct? If someone has a photo of an original shifter shaft it would be greatly appreciated.

It would be my experiences what you see is correct. Where the rounded shaft meets the rectangular block should be where you see the weld and the slight bend in the shifter.

I agree; this is how they were made.

By the way, examine the blade on the bottom of the "block". If it's worn (as they usually are), the shifter will not perform like new.
