    Repro Goodyear GR70-15's?

Anyone know of a source for good reproduction Goodyear GR70-15 radials for a 1973? I see Coker Tire makes Firestone, but not Goodyear.

William, I don't believe anyone is making repo tires yet for the '73. They all stopped at and including 1972 with the belted non-radial.

I have an original set of Firestone Radial 500s RWL in GR70x15 for judging and use a set of Goodyear Eagle GTII RWL in P225/70Rx15 for driving.

      William-----

They are not currently reproduced. However, I understand that Kelsey Tire is working on a reproduction. I don't know the time-line, though. Actually, such a reproduction might also work out well for 68-72 owners that want to use a radial tire that's also "period-correct".

Thanks. I guess I'll have to stick with my Goodyear Eagle GT II's til Kelsey or whoever comes up with a correct radial.
How bad am I going to get hit for my "modern" Goodyears when my '73 is judged?

          William,

Standard Deduct of 60% - Current-day OEM brand, service-replacement size, bias or radial ply tires or current equivalent sizing designation and correct whitewall width.
This is as close as you can get with todays tires until a repo is produced unless of course an original set of tires of which either Firestone Radial 500 or Goodyear Steelgard in GR70x15 were used.

I agree that -60% is the best you can do. I have collected a few sets of judging tires made up out of spares. Check the Driveline in September and November you may find some For Sale. I was told by Coker and Kesley that the tool up charge for radials was lots more than bias ply and way too high for the small demand of 73-77 judging tires so it may never happen. Check the Restorer and you will see in the cars judged at meets how few the number of 73-77 that are judged.

Then how would bias ply G70-15 Firestone repros from Coker fair in judging?

                Re: Repro Goodyear GR70-15's?

The rules for judging tires and taking a deduction is in the Corvette Judging Reference Manual. It should be easy for all judges to come up with the same percentage. The problem is trying to place tires made after 1972 on a chart that is based on a reprodution tire being made.
The tire you describe is a mute point till a tire is on the market and a place in the judging of tires chart is found for it.
