Recommendation for carb rebuilder

I'm looking into a rebuild on my original Q-jet (70 454).

Anyone have any experience with this shop?

They were recommened to me by an NCRS member that does complete restorations on Corvettes he sends his carbs to them. I havent taking my Q-Jet off my 71 yet but I will be taking it to them next week. I will post my opinion when I get it back.

I've had a two Quadrajets rebuilt by them, both sent in at the same time.

They look wonderful and work fine.

What disappointed me is that I asked them, in writing, to return any old parts they didn't use. They changed some parts, didn't send me back the old ones, and use incorrect generic-looking screws to hold down the air horns. If I sent them a nice original carb with original screws, why can't they use them or at least return them??? And why not return the parts they told me "weren't good enough" in appearance?

I tried calling them to complain but never got anywhere. The shop owner was never available and never returned my calls, and his employees knew could not help me.

Hi;

I live in New Jersey and have used these folks a few times. Phil Cancella is the owner and it is a family run business. You will catch Phil at Carlisle every year.

Anyway, he provided three sets of carbs for me. A "correct" set for a 1961 245HP car I had a while back, a 3461S for my 1963/340HP car and a Service Replacement 4150 for my 1965/396. I found their workmanship to be top notch but I am not as knowledgeable as other folks regarding detail... you will need to take their word for that. I had a problem with one of the carbs on the 245HP dual set and Phil worked with me until the issue was resolved. It was one of those flakey things... would work on their bench but not in the car... No quibbling what so ever... He stood by their work.

You want to deal with Phil directly.. His dad usually mans the phone and it is possible that messages do not always get through. I have had good results dropping Phil an e-mail... my take a few days to get back but he always does.

Bottom line... I would recommend them to you...

Yes, I have had dealings with them. They have done 3 carbs for me all excellent. I recommend them highly.
