    1970 4-Speed Speedo Location?

I need to know the correct side for the speedometer connection on a 4-Speed 1970 LS5 (454) Corvette.

Was the speedometer connection on the left (driver's) side, or on the right (passenger) side of the transmission?

All 1966-74 Muncies used a RIGHT (passenger) side speedometer fitting.

Joe --- small correction, just so others with 1965's won't go swapping out their '584' extension housings for the '429'. A.Colvin claims change-over in Feb of 1965, but no early '65 Corvettes have ever been proved to have left St.Louis with driver-side speedo take-offs.

This from Chevrolet "1965 New Product; Training Program Booklet. (printed july 1964)

"The Chevrolet four-speed transmission extension housing and mainshaft are revised to provide for a right hand speedometer take-off connection.

(next para.) The Chevelle, Chevy II, and the Corvette 3-spd tranmissions are carried over with no change into 1965. The 4-spd trans have revised extension housings also for the RH speedo drive location."

No correction involved here. That's why I used the year range 1966-1974 in my original post, to avoid getting involved in the 1965 changes.
