Shock Absorber Choice for a 1974

What would be a good choice of shock absorbers (four) for my 1974? Nothing exotic needed; it's a sunny, Sunday afternoon driver. Originality not an issue but function is. I tend to AC Delco or Monroe and would like to purchase locally (those brands are) to avoid catalogue purchase shipping.

I put some contemporary Delco gas shocks on my '69 3 years and have been very pleased with the ride and handling.

      Dan,
Do you recall the numbers? I used ReacTek (sp?) gas Delco's a few years back on a 1979 and they were very good. But I believe they are history.

        Paul,
That is what they are, and they are still available. I just looked at Eckler's, for example, and they are available there for $44.99 each.

Thanks Dan. I'll check with the local Delco dealer next week. They are closed for the long weekend.

Look at the edelbrock classic series; I have set my '69 and they are great...Don

But Don, they are twice the price of Delco.

Yes and a much better shock. You can find them on the internet for ~$85. Delco are mass produced in Mexico. I had new set of delcos on that I bought from Paragon and just switched to the edelbrocks and the ride and handling is much better....Don

                  Don,
Let me put things in perspective from those of us in Canada who suffer. Local Delco shocks are $45.00 each, in my hands. So about $180.00. Edelbrocks are about $85.00 each, so about $340.00. Plus shipping, about $30.00. Plus UPS/FedEx brokerage, about $40.00. Just a comment.

Plus some of the Mexican products are not that bad. I have had two Impalas with Mexican engines and they have been very good.
