    Re: 1967 Wiper arms

I've never heard a controversy about what's embossed on the wiper arm (rear spring cover)... The only issue I've heard is about the configuration of the wiper blade holder.

Some say they were sharply peaked (cross sectional view) with simply 'TRICO' embossed on the top (as was true of blades from the 63-66 era). Others say there were 'early' and 'late' versions of the blade with the later blade holder having a more gently rounded cross section and the 'TRICO Made In USA' emboss on the top side.

I suspect what's 'right/correct' will depend on the specific exterior judges you pull at a given meet because the current edition of the Judging Guide book is rather silent on this issue. That means it's a matter of seeing what the NTL for this division has to say.

I can tell you, the 'early' version of the blade holder (sharply peaked with only 'TRICO' embossed) is a RARE find item! I've had maybe 4-5 of them in +12 years of walking scrap yards + attending swap meets...

      Right Jack,
we typically see the peaked, brushed "Trico" on original cars.
to further support this and to confirm that this hobby is now "Market Driven", a vendor in a relatively high traffic area at Carlisle had several very nice pairs of "Made in USA" holders for $50.00 per pair. They were all still on the table at 4:00 p. m. Saturday afternoon.

        Re: 1967 Wiper Blade Holders

I agree with Jack in that the wiper arms are not the general topic of discussion.

If you are referring to the wiper blade holders for the 1967 production year, you might want to check the archives on the subject if you haven't already.

Quickly, my experience from looking at original 1967 cars including Corvettes, Chevelles, Chevrolets, and other GM cars across the product line and junkyarding has been the early in the 1967 production year, i.e., Sept 1966 thru Dec 1966 and into early 1967, the holders will be the brushed peak shape with TRICO stamped on both ends; in early calendar year 1967,i.e Jan-Feb, I found those with the TRICO stamped on both ends, and in Feb-Mar time frame the transition to the TRICO/MADE IN USA stamping came in with holders having TRICO/MADE IN USA stamped on the top end of the holder and TRICO on the bottom end of the holder and those with TRICO/MADE IN USA stamped on both ends; and by the end of Mar into April, the holders with TRICO/MADE IN USA are the norn.

Having said all that, it is my understanding that all 3 of the versions were acceptable in 1967 judging although some judges might accept only the TRICO stamped holders; but if there is a question regarding this, it should be directed to the 1967 Team Leader.

        Have fun, Pete
