Which Rallye wheel for my '67???

I believe my recently purchased '67 coupe w/ trim tag date 'H03' lacks relatively few parts to be complete. One significant need is a spare.

The 4 Rallye wheels it has now are GM KH's stamped "DG" by the valve stem and appear to be originals (although I have yet to look at the dates inside).

I plan to keep this car indefinitely, and have no desire to have it judged (o.k......call me lazy when it comes to car detailing). But I am trying to balance judging deductions against part cost and availailbity when I buy something for it.

My understanding is that one of the 4 correctly stamped "DG" wheels could be moved to the spare position for judging since that would be the only wheel to be inspected.

What differences in deductions could be expected between the correct "DG" wheel, a 3968773 GM replacement, and a Repop, if installed 'on the ground' (w/a correct hub cap and trim ring, of course).

Am I correct in assuming all 3 are functional equivalents in terms of offsets, etc.?

I dont know about the reproduction wheel, but the later over the counter wheel is enough different that you really wouldnt want to use that one. Why not just find another DG or DC ?

Wayne, the more I thought about it since I posted, the more I agree with the idea of finding another correct original wheel. (It might be different if I needed a whole set of 4 wheels). Thanks for the little 'nudge'.

Hi Bob,
the 'DC's" seem to be universal, you can't go wrong. The 5th "DG" will work as well. These can be found for the price of a repop anyway.
Just a note, in case anyone is watching, Exterior Judges do verify the wheel codes stamped in the four wheels on the ground.
Original spares did not have a Beauty Ring or Center Cap and
don't forget the "Dill 627" valve caps.

I have a DG dated 2/67 and am looking for a B wheel for my 67. I also have two replacement K/H wheels and I think the only difference I notice from my B wheels is rivits but I will have to go look again.

Tim,
why a "B" wheel? It would probably be too late for your car.
Wheel dates are not judged.

My 67 is early, built September 66 and I have three B wheels and two K/H replacement rally's that came with the car. I need to find two more B wheels because I think they are correct for my 15?? car. I forget the serial # but I know it's September 66 build. DC wheels will work also as you say

I think DC will work also, I am going to take the repro bolt on's off and install the rally's. Also going to take the side pipes off and opt for under car exhaust. Big mistake installing the pipes but that was a long time ago.

Do the quarter test on those replacements and you will see the outward difference. Turn a quarter sideways and try to place it through the slots. It will not go through the replacements. Once you do this, you will be abe to see the difference. Not obvious unless you know. Then it is a sore thumb.

Tim,
1,5xx is close, but, could still be a little late. We have currently only seen 'B's" up to about 1,200. We are only talking about a difference of two -three days of production.
But, we have also learned never to say never.
Can you absolutely verify that the "B's" originally came with your car?
Would be meaningful data to have if valid.
If you settle on the "B's" be sure to use the Schrader valve stems & caps.

I have to correct my previous post, when I purchased the 67, two wheels were B, two K/H replacements and the other wheel is a DC. I believe the three original wheels came with the car new so I need to check the DC for a date. I know the B wheels are dated 8 66. I am the third owner with the second owner having never titled the car. I received the "A" title and all paperwork.

I also need to check the serial # and I will get back to you.
