C1 Glove Box Lock Cylinder Removal?

What is the trick to removing the lock cylinder and push button from the glove box door of a C1 Corvettte?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi -

Hopefully I understand the question. Open the glove box and with one hand hold the lock assembly, with the other hold the bezel around the push button. Rotate the lock clockwise and anticlockwise, the front bezel should come loose so you can unscrew it. The button/lock then comes out.

Put the key in the lock. Open the glove box door. Take a straightened paper clip and push it into the hole on the top of the lock case. Turn the key and pull the lock cylinder out of the case. You can then unscrew the bezel and remove the lock case. The paper clip depresses a tab that holds the cylinder in the case. The hole in the lock case is fairly obvious once you know where it is but you may have to look for it first time.

When you re-install the lock cylinder, DON'T insert it in the lock case upside-down, as there will be no access hole to depress the removal tab on the cylinder.

Carr, make sure the lock operation is corrected aligned. Gary.... The locked position is vertical with the key teeth down - 6 o'clock position. To unlock, rotate clockwise 90 degrees with key teeth facing passenger- 9AM position.
p.s. make sure the lock doesn't spin and stops only at the 6PM & 9AM positions
