Re: Corvettes at Carlisle Attendance--down?
this is the first year that i can remember that my son and i did not go to Corvettes at Carlisle. I am a die hard i remember when you could park your pickup truck for free and throw that set of wheels in the back with no problem. then they shut out the real buyers so that the guy in the new vette can buy his tee shirts and walnut knobs. we went to GM Carlisle for the first time this year and we were out of there in 4 hours. Talking to vendors then and they said they were dying. Maybe next year.

Re: Corvettes at Carlisle Attendance--down?
I have attended Carlisle since 1990. I've seen it go from very crowed to not so crowed. This year I noticed that traffic in the morning was very light on Friday. I also noticed that each year I look for about 5 vendors that sell Midyear nos parts. Out of the 5 that are always in the same spot only one attended this year. I assume that a few of them have sold all their nos mid year parts and that's why they figure its not worth attending. But as always I enjoy Carlise every year. Just my two cents.- Top

Re: Corvettes at Carlisle Attendance--down?
As a vendor all I can say is that Thru and Fri were extremely busy for me. More than I could handle. Sat traffic in our aisle was light but the Sat crowd typically doesn't buy anything anyhow. I loved the weather this year. Could not have been better. I also love the great salads with the grilled chicken from the food court for only $6.50. I wish I could get a salad like that around my hood for any amount of bucks. JD
In K row there was an unrestored 58 Low HP fuel car for sale for over100K. I spend a lot of time looking under the hood and took a lot of pics with my cell. I learned a lot as few people know much on how to run the FI vacuum lines such as the distr vac advance and the W/S washers. It was a very nice original car but I don't believe it sold.Last edited by John D.; August 28, 2008, 10:27 AM.- Top

Re: Corvettes at Carlisle Attendance--down?
I've been attending Corvettes at Carlisle for ten years. This was the lightest crowd in that time. I spoke with several vendors who attend several of the Carlisle events each year and they said attendance at all the shows has been down about 30% to 35% this year. We always park near gate 1 so we can watch the parade of Corvettes going into and out of the fair grounds. This year instead of a steady stream it was more of a trickle.- Top

John,
You weren't the only one looking at that '58; every time I went by there was a crowd. I heard he was down to 90K and had to leave on Saturday.
I filled my camera with a bunch of pictures also!

Re: Corvettes at Carlisle Attendance--down?
I was surprised that I got a spot on a homeowners lawn right at gate 3 Friday morning. I agree it was a bit light but I couldn't get through it in the one day I was there. Next year I will stay overnight.
I did buy enough parts to keep me busy through the winter though!66 Coupe
